Hidden meanings in film noir: ALIEN: ROMULUS (2024) - A house without a firm foundation soon falls...

Imagine Marvel's Doctor Strange was real and he could play the sequences of various instances of human existence to see the outcome or end result. Alternatively, imagine that Neo from the Matrix movies was a real person that actually entered the source code and saw the many screens showing him different sequences and outcomes of all of man's existence. Just imagine that someone had access or abilities to see all the sequences and trials of man's many attempts to exist and successfully ascend the heavens.
Then imagine that not only did such persons see the sequences, but story tellers in the real world were imbibed with the memories to create stories, poems, music, movies, cartoons and other works of art that would serve as reminders and inspire us to correct the failed sequences.
With this new perspective developed in your mind, you'd have a better understanding of the life lessons we have derived from this sci-fi movie; Alien: Romulus. It is a film that gets you on the edge of your seat as you hope the actors make it through the dangerous moments. We hope your thoughts are stirred in the right direction as you enjoy reading the life lessons we have listed.

  • The Direction
The Ai Rook (Ian Holm) mentioned that humanity wasn't suited to colonizing space because our biological make-up was too weak. This led to a scientific research to enhance human genes that went awry and created alien monsters.
In reality, sometimes we get misdirected and look for complicated solutions instead of learning from the little things. It is unwise to leap-frog into space colonization without first fixing our foundations on earth, because a house without a firm foundation soon falls. The foundation we need is a proper understanding and development of the systems that are already available on earth. Eskimos live in the artic, Nomads live in the desert, these are two cultures living in extreme temperatures without the assistance of technology.
If the world grows rightly by original DNA codes, relevant technology meant for the colonization of similar regions in space would develop out of such cultures. Such technology could also develop from other cultures seeking to assist people in such regions, if we lived by love and caring for one another.
The true direction we need before space colonization is developing social balance and competences in living within the harsher environments of our world. Building eco-cities in the ocean, developing snow cities without a need for clearing the snow. If we focus on these competences, we would develop the right kind of technology that would help man in space colonization. We gave insights on the development of snow cities in the reviews of 'The Decline' and 'The Mother'. We also provide clues to the development of ocean eco-cities in the reviews of 'The last house', 'Mickey 17', 'Black Doves', and 'Kraven'.
We are the hands of God, these first steps are just a preamble to the ultimate ability to construct entire ecosystems and habitable environments. Like we mentioned in the review of 'Supergirl', we need to develop scientific perspectives from our myths, legends, folklores, and religious creation stories. But we must be patient, remember our journey so far is more than a million years. We probably have billions of years to go or even an eternity of bliss if things go well.
  • Eco-Balance Conscious
An abandoned out of commission space station floating in the void of space is the central theme used for the scenes of this movie.
In the real world, our current space missions show signs of replicating hazards that go against sustainable practices. Therefore, it is important that we learn from the earthly mistakes of pollution and environmental degradation and use that knowledge to establish principles or ethical practices for space exploration and colonization missions.
Personally, I was deeply troubled by NASA vessels that ejected it's emptied fuel compartments as it built momentum into space. I wondered where the compartments went to, if they fell back to earth or just floated in space. I wondered if it would fall in the middle of a city, causing explosions and mayhem, or if it floated to a distant planet inhabited by aliens and was misconstrued as a weapon from humans and an act of war. Anyways, I am over the existence of aliens now, because I believe every living thing in our cosmos originates from us. Like we mentioned in the review of 'Never Let Go', some among us still carry traces of genes from past future life times.
We should learn to repurpose, dismantle, and recycle structures or inventions that no longer fulfill a need. Unless, it's a well maintained and valuable monument, not potential hazards to us or our environment. There are countless examples of hazardous materials and structures around the world, including out of commission dams, lighthouses, wind turbines, monoliths, and factories. Not to mention hazards from past wars, like abandoned tanks and land mines.
This mentality of responsibility towards the environment and sustainable practices would help us in the future against space exploration hazards like the floating space station used in this movie.
  • Social Balance
In this movie we again see the disbalance in society, as the workers are symbolized as near-slaves working for a right to be free of their employment contract. An enslaving system that motivates the main actors to embark on a perilous and ultimately fatal journey.
The foundation of a solid social balance in our world is paramount to the success of our human race journey. The imbalance brought about by the orchestrated cheating of love and the ensuing enslavements and entrapment systems man has come to accept as norms, have far reaching consequences for the sustenance of humanities aspiration to ascend into the heavens and thrive beautifully in harmony with the cosmic eco-systems. The little things we do on earth, matter more than we actually think.
We should learn to love ourselves and cater to one another. Love is an important member of the round table and the lack of love is what drives men to cheat, steal, and kill themselves in gangs and even wars.
Symbolisms of the problem of imbalance have been subjects of our previous reviews of movies like 'The Running Man' and 'Destroyer'.
