A gangster movie with a lot of insights on social processes and lessons for surviving this concrete jungle called civilization. Enjoy reading.
- The Underground
Mitchel (Colin Farrell) has an underground contact who poses as a beggar but secretly deals in weapons and information, and in another scene he rescues a lady at an ATM in the subway from a potential robbery. This is a lesson to be cautious on the streets. Don't look down on people because things aren't always what it seems to be and build an awareness of your situation. Always be mindful of the potential threats, risks, and dangers around you. Its not about being apprehensive or perturbed, but being aware gives you a better response mechanism in certain situations.
- The Porn Star Celeb
You have seen her in films getting her kit off, if it wasn't for Monica Belluci, she'd be the most raped woman in all of European cinema". These are the words of Jordan (David Thewlis) to Mitchel, while they were discussing about Charlotte (Keira Knightley). In reality, some actresses are so humiliated in sex scenes that their videos have a channel on pornographic websites. Its emotionally conflicting to see sexual enslavement and humiliation in something so lucrative, but its quite obvious to the discerning mind. We are all attracted to sex scenes and nudity, but no one likes seeing a woman suffer unjustly, especially if that woman represents someone he's supposed to love. Because every man starts seeing every woman in the same light, and there's truth to it. There is interesting talent in acting and actors can be entertaining and successful without being put through humiliating sequences that only acknowledges the bonded enslavement and entrapments of angelic women. Maybe if the angelics were free from the enslavement of the 1st and all men had access to love, then it might not be too much of an issue, because it would control the enslavement of angelic men to wanking.
- Contentment VS. Vanity
Mitchell mentions that the cars in Charlotte's garage need to have protective coverings, but Jordan tells him off, stating that if the deeds to the cars were available, the cars would have been sold.
Consider the life lessons in our previous review of the book 'The Damned', then imagine a celeb who's made a deeply hurting pact with the paranormal to be successful, only to end up having property he never really uses. In reality, most celebs and billionaires have a vast amount of property they never use. There are rich celebs whose mansions, unknown to them, only serve as free hotels for the destruction of love. There are celebs who only pay for maintenance of garages filled with never driven cars. It is a good thing to be rich, but understand its limitations, and don't go out of your way just to get something that would leave you feeling empty.
- Bonded Tormentors
Charlotte is tormented by the paparazzi and their annoying statements as they throw slurs at her, asking her to indulge in indecent acts. From our perspective and in acknowledgement of the bonds of enslavement and entrapment from demonic teneted systems based on the destruction and cheating of love. We can deduce that Charlotte represents an angelic woman, whose celebrity status is just a shrouded form of slavery. She doesn't enjoy her wealth, and she's constantly tormented and harassed by the paparazzi. This makes relaxation quite difficult to achieve. Have you ever tried to relax in a social setting, but things suddenly seemed to heat up or feel tensed. Suddenly, you couldn't cope with the noise, the service, the crowd, or the occasional step on your feet or bump on your shoulder. Under the bonds, the uninitiated aren't permitted to relax, or be happy and its a subtle approach to sustain the enslavement of the angelic. Its a big drawback and let down from the demonic side of life, because humanity is supposed to be way past these discrimination and ill feelings. May there be change and peacefully too.
- Charity Not Love
The doctor asks Mitchell's permission to date a slutty lady he meant at the beggars burial. Mitchell's response is epic; 'Everything terrible is something that needs our love'. This statement effectively describes the damsel in distress love card, and its not just damsel that take advantage of soft hearted people. Even fraudsters prey on those interested in helping during tragic occurrences like war or natural disasters. Love is not pity or consolation, it is an act of self-elevation. A symbiotic union that increases the value of both parties. Charity is not love.
- Impromptu Accessory Bond
Mitchell is beaten up by a gang, while collecting taxes for a syndicate. The syndicate retaliates by kidnapping, torturing, and shooting a guy from the gang's neighborhood in Mitchell's presence. Mitchell is greatly upset that he wasn't consulted because he had become an impromptu accessory to murder. This is a lesson for watching the company you keep and the crowd you hang out with. There are many young guys who have found themselves placed in the middle of an armed robbery or home break in, when they were only out on a walk or ride out with their friends. Ignorant excuses don't hold much water in a law court when the odds are down. Be careful, watch your cycle and choose your friends carefully.
- Double Standards
Mitchell ultimately kills an innocent bystander as he embarks on retaliating his attempted enslavement by bonds under the syndicate boss. The same person who was greatly aggravated by the wrongness of killing an innocent bystander, turns around to kill another innocent bystander. In the end, his death at the hands of a street kid symbolizes a sought of karma. Double standards is topic of discussion in some previous movie reviews including Mona Lisa Smile, Love Lies Bleeding, Honey Don't, Subservience, American Sweatshop, and Mother.
