The lines are blurred between reality and imagination in this cleverly crafted storyline with well curated realistic action sequences that makes this movie a must watch for movie enthusiasts. Thank you for joining us once again and enjoy the life lessons listed below.
- The Greener Grass
Sara's (Jeanne Goursaud) sojourn in the consulate is an attempt at a better world for her child but it turns into a nightmare of unfortunate experiences as her traumatic past kicks in. Although Sara's case and reason for immigrating is different, the entire struggle in the consulate hints at the laborious processes and struggles immigrants face in their home countries.
The lesson for humanity here is that the grass always seems greener on the other side because we neglect to water our own greens. We fail to do the right things in our society that is why we always feel the need to find sucour somewhere else. It is the classic immigrant struggle in a veiled poetic format, as the movie symbolizes the strive of gaining entry into a world supposedly flowing with 'milk and honey'. Its a shame our world still has leaders who exploit people after everything humanity has been put through in the dark ages and in primeval times.
- The All Powerful Brain
Sara's psychotic episodes are an allude to the powerful capabilities of the human brain. The brain's ability to project abstract images from the past in substitution for current reality is quite marvelous. Little wonder, many insane destitute walk naked and appear to discuss with themselves, because their brains are so powerful that they are seeing something entirely different from what the people around them are seeing.
Sara's brain's ability to project images from her past into her present reality is not so different from the ability of this author to remember things in his life which he never actually did. The brain's ability to project images from the past or even from a former life is the entire basis for the 'future past life' memories explained in our eBooks about our human DNA programming and how love became a problem.
- Double Standards
While searching for her kidnapped child, Sara decides to kidnap Eric's (Dougray Scott) child. It was a last resort which ultimately paid off but it provided an opportunity to remind us of the problems of double standards in our world.
Her risky move paid off, but if it hadn't, it would have placed a serious dent in her claims and reduced any opportunity for solidarity with her cause. It is double standards when you fight against something by doing the very thing you fight against.
The problem of double standards has been a subject of previous movie reviews on this blog including Apex and Luther.
- Contentment Problem
Eric's lack of contentment with the unfortunate trajectory of his career puts him in a downward spiral of corruption and betrayal. His explanation for his wrongs holds little water with Sara because he has ruined her family and killed eight people while claiming to defend his family. This scene also hints at the problem of double standards, but our focus here is on contentment.
Contentment problems lead to many ills in society and many employers work hard to improve the work-life balance, and health and safety policies of their staff in the hope of generating contentment and motivation. But according to the great economist Adam Smith, 'Human wants are insatiable'. People always want more, even those doing exceptionally well, still want more out of life. In other words, there is a void in our human consciousness that we all can't seem to fill. That void can only be filled with the realignment of our true purpose with our human race journey and the reclamation of love amongst ourselves. These concepts are discussed and explained in our eBooks. A lack of contentment has been a topic of discussion in previous movie reviews including Enola Holmes and Love Lies Bleeding.
