Hidden meanings in Film noir: GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY (2022) - If it doesn't feel right, it doesn't sit right...

Thank you for joining us once again on this truth-teller, goody-two-shoes odyssey of mindfulness, awareness, and objectivity. Hope you enjoy watching this movie as much as we did, although we felt like fighting for the beautiful Janelle Monae (xoxo).

  • Sorry Feminists
The early sequences of this movie show different individuals in different facets of life. One of the scenes shows Duke Cody (Dave Bautista) giving an online video and his sexy girlfriend, Whiskey (Madelyn Cline) walks in on the video with the following statement; 'Sorry feminists, I love my boobs'.
Wait a minute! Yep, you heard that right, because with that statement she insinuates that feminists hate boobs! We are not sure where the misconception came from, but feminism is about defending and promoting feminine rights like 'equal pay', 'support women in STEM', 'checkmating domestic violence', and 'sexual enslavement'. Feminism has never been against loving boobs. Anyways, Whiskey goes of into a deep yawn, and his mum (Jackie Hoffman) smacks him across the face, as if to say 'stop saying mad rubbish'. If it doesn't feel right, it doesn't sit right.
Misconceptions are one of the many problems we face as we make efforts to right the wrongs that have soiled human history. Just like we mentioned in the review of 'The Woman in Cabin 10'.
  • Stereogram Lesson
Each individual receives a stereogram message which requires some ingenuity to decode. Lionel Toussaint (Leslie Odom Jr.) changes his viewing perspective to realign his line of sight before discovering the hidden open button. This is a lesson in perception! Sometimes it is important to change your perspective so that things can become clearer. Realign your perspectives, be objective and view things from different angles. It would take a lot of weight of your shoulders.

  • Suckers for the Apple Pie
When Miles Bron (Edward Norton) gives a speech about disruptive ingenuity as a percussor to successful innovation, Andi Brand (Janelle Monae) breaks in and lets Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) know that all of the crew are in one way or another tied to the mischievous benevolence of Miles. Friends who betray a friend for a share of the loot. 'Suckers for the Apple Pie' or 'Ass Kissers' like we reviewed in the movie Problemista. People who turn away from an evil deed or a wrong just because its in their favor. Such people are toxic to our human race journey because they never give the truth or correction a chance to fight back.

  • At the Expense of Love
The mischievousness of Miles' benevolence is soon revealed when Duke sees Whiskey having sex with the billionaire. Variety in life and adding a bit of fun to your sexual affairs shouldn't be mistaken for entrapping bonds which ensure the destruction of love. Afterall, a billionaire can invite lots of girls to his resort and have fun with them all. Why then must he symbolize his dominance or superiority over his comrades.
Anyways, Duke doesn't complain about his love getting dicked by his bond master and he gets a due reward in increasing views or revenue on his internet channel.
In one hand, its a bit of compensating for low self esteem in situations where the enslaving party feels envious of the looks or abilities of the enslaved, on the other hand its just a bit of greed. A lack of satisfaction or contentment with what is, and a consequent hope to fill the void by covetousness. The financial reward is inconsequential, because in a balanced world there'd be enough to keep everyone happy.
  • No Sane Reason
If Miles has enriched everyone in the group, why then does Andi remain cheated? Why can't he compensate her adequately? Well, in one scene, when everyone in the room scolds her for being a sore loser, she screams back at them; 'I want the truth', but the best she gets out of the group is a mock apology and more chiding.
Here is one bit of the truth puzzle. Have you ever heard of the bonds of wrongness? The bonds to reject the correct things in favor of wrongness? You can read our review of the movie, 'The King' to gain better insights on the bonds of wrongness. It would help you understand that the wrongness of Miles' wealth is the cheating of his innocent startup partner 'Andi', and his subsequent deployment of a potentially hazardous substance.
There is no sane reason for the wrongness accepted in our world, and we should all man-up and adjust to the truth because time is a battle no man can win.

  • Royalty not Loyalty
The party finally turns against Miles when it becomes apparent that his financial empire was doomed to collapse. Despite his hold on them and all the enrichment and benefits they have derived, they show their true colors at the end of it all. The general mindset of being loyal to benefits or being 'only in for the money', implies an emptiness or a lack of purpose in most people. This is because money is only a means to an end. Therefore, if money becomes your end goal, then your mindset is flawed. In reality, true loyalty is derived from love, not benefits or dependance. Benefits or dependance are a royalty based relationship which is usually betrayed or forsaken when such benefits cease to exist. Do not mistake royalty for loyalty.
