The movie showcases the lengths people go to create digital content and throws light on the extremities of the digital world (The Dark Web). - Consistency Pays
In the movie, Cole is portrayed as a successful content creator and it is acknowledged that he has remained dedicated to developing content for over 10 years. As in all things worthwhile, consistency definitely pays. As a wise man used to quote 'There are more than a million ways to make money, just choose one and keep at it'. Many of us get disappointed or depressed by the quick fix solutions. Some people even sojourn into the dark path, making bonds with the devil or fraternities and ending up regretting or wishing they had been patient with life. Don't be pressurized by the world, don't rush your success. Just stay dedicated to something you're good at, and the matrix or the universe would acknowledge your consistency.
- Fulfillment isn't Wealth
Cole's attempt at creating content is symbolized with lots of snapshots from various activities. However, there's a sense of emptiness in the way he searches for unconventional activities to fulfill his passion or arouse excitement in his followers. The viewer gets a filling that he really isn't fulfilled or satisfied in the wealth he has accumulated, so he keeps trying to fill the void. In life fulfillment comes from purpose, and our true purpose is to sustain the world in developmental harmony. Those who stray from this path often feel a certain kind of unexplainable emptiness. Find your purpose and try to understand what unique ability you're supposed to contribute to the progress of humanity, because in that activity you would find satisfaction and fulfillment.
- Archaically Modern
We sometimes claim to be scientifically advanced in our current way of life and compared to the stone age and primitive cultures we are right. However, certain things like the turbulence during a flight remind us that science is still at low levels compared to the level achieved in previous worlds. There are lots of lapses in scientific claims, including assumptions in health sciences, underwater exploration, and astronomy. Our scientists certainly have lots of ground to cover and we sometimes need to look at little things in our everyday life before the sequences to bigger things can be revealed.
- The Law Bows
The security guards at the airport let the adventurers go after their host (Alexei) identifies himself. In reality, legal and security protocols often discriminate the less privileged and this is one of the problems arising from the imbalance of things. Nothing serious, but its worth a thought.
- Celebration or a Show of Might
At a night club the guys get into a fight and guns are drawn. In reality, most club scenes are mainly a show of might or a display of power. How many times have you been with a girl at a club and had someone come dance with her or signal her to leave you? How many times have you gotten into a scuffle at the club because of a girl and ended up kicked out. Well, our fraternity brothers are unremorseful and they never back down, besides all the girls in the club have allegiance to the fraternity that rules the house or else they would be molested and given a bad experience. Is that celebration? That kind of tensed environment is hardly relaxing to those who really seek pleasure and fun. Little wonder several individuals who visit a club soon realize that they don't belong to the environment. I was in a club once when someone purposely stepped on my shoes, and in another instance someone pretended to mistakenly spill a drink on my shirt. In my opinion celebration is Christmas, the joy of coming together in merriment regardless of race, style, or status. That is the kind of club I want, the Christmas club - a freedom to dance and make love.
- The Bad Side of Social Media
Cole expresses concern about getting the video of the fight in the club for uploads and Erin is disappointment at his lack of concern for their safety. This bad side of social media can be considered as addictive compulsions as individuals try to get content in sometimes dangerously fatal situations. There are several evidences of witnesses who get cut up in an explosion, a fire, or an accident just because they tried to upload a video. Please prioritize your safety and don't get cut up in the craze to go viral without regards to the health and safety of others.
- The Confusion
The group of friends are lead to an escape house. Escape houses are a trending game that involves participants escaping a sort of makeshift horror house. In this movie, the facility is a remnant of a torture house from the Russian cold war. Wars from human history are evidence of the confusing process of our development into a civilized race. We fought and squabbled among ourselves when we should have been committed to building together and expressing heavenly glory in the physical realm.
- The Dark Web
The guys end up being subjects of a dark web content creator who's lineup of horror themes are beyond the expectations of the group. Be careful what you wish for, because you just might have it.
How and why we pay for such atrocities is difficult to comprehend but even the Christian bible quotes that 'the heart of man is desperately wicked' (Jeremiah 17:9). Atrocities available in the dark web are stomach churning and it is appalling to see that there are still mini-Hitlers in this modern world. Lets not even mention snuff films where they mangle the love some of us are still searching for. Mothers, please cure your children because they are the men of tomorrow.
- Money isn't Reliable
Cole doesn't care about the bundle of money that falls to the floor when all odds are down and he tries to escape the hell hole he's landed in. In an earlier scene he barely noticed the red note which was carefully hidden among the bundle. Money isn't the ultimate goal, just like we affirmed in our eBook 'The Twelve Days of Christmas', what good is gold if you can't buy food. Money certainly has its limitations and it would do us well to understand that fact!
- Calmness is a Super Power
Cole freaks out at the end of the movie and... Well, you have to watch it yourself because we don't want to ruin the suspense. The life lesson though, is that calmness helps in more ways than we can imagine. It is important to build a reasonable state of calmness and objectivity which can be vital in high stress situations. Meditation is one way of uncluttering the mind and developing a state of calm that helps in effective decision making. The importance of a calm mind isn't only based on life threatening situations but also everyday decision making and routine. Calmness improves your efficiency and effectiveness. Keep calm, its probably nothing!
