The madness of love unfulfilled is the central theme of this one as Frankie, expertly portrayed by the ravenous Cat woman (Halle Berry) experiences repressed traumas that gives her multiple personalities. Here are some hidden meanings in this movie you didn't notice. Happy reading
- The classic money bag
Sex, and drugs are the themes of the opening sequences of this movie. Frankie dances inside a cage to symbolize her enslavement to make money for the system. As in reality, lust based on nudity, dirty dancing, and porn are cash cows for the system of cheating and the richer they become the more difficult it is to see the wrongness of it all, and the more difficult it is for them to let go of the spiritual bonds of entrapment. Money certainly is a lure, but there many things more important than money. For example, in a natural disaster like the sort that can arise from the depletion of the organic side of mother earth, money would be useless. For what good is money if there's no food to buy.
- The divine programming
Frankie bursts into fits of prophetic madness that's considered a mental illness. Humans are programmed by DNA, subconsciously to retain and remember the true direction of our human race journey. Prophetic madness therefore translates to direction or guidance of what to do (encourage) or not do (discourage). Like her middle name 'Lucinda' what we call madness is actually the clear direction to a better world. The mad lovers are know to break into fits of rage or tears as their programming to stay on the right path becomes invaded by a world bonded to wrongness. In the movie, we see a rather disoriented Frankie who struggles to make sense of it all, caught between what she must do to survive and what she's supposed to be doing. If society was really balanced most people would see the true light inside them.
- Bleeding knees
Is sex so sweet that a woman would accept to receive it from behind till her knees bleed? Many young women have been given bruised knees whether by arrangement or unintentionally. The little things that support the tenets of the destruction of love are quite disturbing to meditate on. Although, its not directly acknowledged in this movie, Frankie does have visibly bruised knees at the hospital. Bleeding knees are also depicted in the movie 'Romance' where the actress gets roughly sexed on the stairs and breaks down in tears with her knees bruised.
- Exploited
Frankie dances at an expensive bar to the admiration of customers, and the financial benefit of the system, but in her personal life she's struggling to pay rent. This is just in acknowledgement that the exploited young women don't benefit from the system of cheating.
- Mother Daughter relationship
Frankie's mother doesn't know that she works as a stripper in a night club. All women know, and all women should be supportive of each other, at least till there's a solution to the wrongness or misuse of bonds. A mother should be aware of who her daughter is, and a daughter should be intelligent enough to know that her mum understands the challenges of the system. Transparency would keep our young women safe or at least place more responsibility on the system, even if they're bonded to not care.
- The stereotyped woman
Frankie is told the news about her friend Paige, getting married to a wealthy guy and she feels defeated. Defeated because getting married to a wealthy guy is considered as success for women regardless of if the guy is abusive, or not. Gender discrimination has deep roots in generally accepted norms, traditions, and cultures around the world. Female emancipation would therefore need to take a deep-rooted causal analysis to examine stereotypical triggers in other for women to truly be emancipated.
- Past lives and human interconnectivity
Frankie has a multiple personality disorder, one of which is when she thinks she's a white person that has a disdain for black people. Reincarnation is one of the fundamental foundations of our human journey, and through the internet its now possible to identify similar individuals and doppelgangers from different racial backgrounds. This should be an elevating consciousness that helps us overcome racial differences and a myopic mindset of immediate benefits. The man who's been mentally elevated by this consciousness would work earnestly towards a better world and he would be objective in judgement. Traumatic experiences sometimes trigger the interconnectivity between past-lives, as Frankie experiences in this movie. How the human brain works is really amazing sometimes.
- The problem of shame
The stigma of having a child with a different race puts Frankie in a position of losing her child leading to psychotic episodes. Just like we explained in movie 'Angels of the Sun', shame or stigma sometimes leads to greater atrocities that the shameful act itself.
