She appears quite ludicrous in her portrayed expectancy of waiting to have sex with a man who beats her, flogs her with a leather belt, and burns her with a cigarette in sadistic sexual expressions.
Its vivid sex scenes and innuendos suggests that she's being sarcastic. Thus, it provides a satirical take on what women put up with to console men pr spouse's after serving the system with their youth.
Low budget, cleverly crafted, thought provoking, this is definitely film noir at its best.
Her spouse expresses his sexual frustrations on her, and she willingly bears his pain only with the intention of finally winning his forgiveness and acceptance of her as a partner.
In its opening sequences, Laura is shown masturbating by the window of her apartment as she spies on a couple in the adjacent building.
Her relationship with her new found lover is marked with brutality, punching, slapping, flogging, burning, and sex. This only implies that she's not really interested in the sex but in the man, because she has passed sexual prime and is in dire need of a companion.
She portrays the importance of companionship over sex, and even offers herself to be killed her new lover if he doesn't want to keep her.
Her lover, however, expresses the annoyance of cheated lovers who might not have had pleasurable sexual experiences due to the systems of cheating or enslaving young girls. Men who sometimes express their frustration in violent mid-life crisis at their partners.
